Defend the Legacy of the First of May! For a Day of Rebellion Against Imperialism!

Yesterday, May 1st, 2025, workers around the world and in the so-called united states celebrated International Worker’s Day, proudly continuing the 136 year tradition set forth by the International Workers Congress in 1889 and commemorating the 1886 general strike in the u.s.a, as well as the Haymarket Massacre in Chicago on May 4th of that year.

Yet standing apart from the vast majority of countries which officially celebrate May 1st as International Worker’s Day, blowhard-in-chief Donald Trump instead issued a proclamation for “Loyalty Day and Law Day, U.S.A, 2025,” attempting to overshadow the glorious celebration of international working class solidarity and rebellion with a celebration of “the constitutional rule of law,” and “the proud history of our Nation.” This move, which leveraged the undisguised anti-communist anxieties of the ruling class, of course comes from the man who is currently disregarding the constitutional limits to his power in order to strip the federal government for parts with Elon Musk, detain pro-Palestine foreign-born student protesters in violation of their first amendment rights to free speech, and deport immigrants such as Kilmar Abrego Garcia to autocrat Nayib Bukele’s Salvadoran concentration camp known as the Terrorism Confinement Center (CECOT) without due process. We know that like any other tyrant of the ruling class, Donald only respects the “rule of law” so long as it suits his own political needs and keeps the oppressed masses of this prisonhouse of nations subjugated by capital. The law is not and never has been neutral; it is the codification of the dictatorship of the owning class over us, and it will be applied, changed, or disregarded however the ruling class pleases. We dare not cry “hypocrite!” for we have no regard for a system which exists for naught but to chain us, to exploit us; we desire not law and order, but to wrest power from the hands of those who hold our class in bondage.

In response to Trump’s insult to International Worker’s Day, to the martyrs of Haymarket, and to the oppressed masses within the so-called united states, we say: you take our holiday, we take yours! We therefore call on all anti-imperialist comrades to celebrate July 4th, 2025 as a DAY OF REBELLION!

Throughout human society, as long as ruling classes have lorded over the oppressed, rebellion has been an objective fact. Beginning with the publication of the Communist Manifesto amid the storm of rebellions across Europe in 1848, revolutionary movements near and far have looked to Marxism, the ideology of the working class, as the guiding light of liberation, the scientific world outlook which gives reason to revolt. As we celebrate REBELLION AND RESISTANCE DAY, we shall reaffirm our commitment to the total and final victory of all oppressed peoples around the world: the abolition of class society, brought about by the organized struggle of the workers to uproot the old world.

As we continue the valiant struggle to build working class power, to drive the fascists off our streets, and overturn the brutal dictatorship of the owning class, we solemnly remember the millions of victims of Yankee imperialism whose lives were viciously taken, and stand in solidarity with the oppressed masses of the world currently under the yoke of the u.s. empire and its running dogs. We call direct attention to: the genocide of nearly 55 million Indigenous people of the Americas, killed by European colonization and the u.s.a’s wars against the First Nations; the untold tens of millions of African people killed by the brutal conditions of chattel slavery and the forced transit of the slave trade from Africa to the Americas; the hundreds of thousands of Filipino people killed in their war of independence against Yankee imperialism from 1899 to 1913; the hundreds of thousands murdered by the u.s.a in the nuclear bombing of the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki; the millions of people killed by the u.s.a’s genocidal war against the Korean people from 1950 to 1953; the millions killed by u.s. intervention against Vietnam’s war of national liberation, and by u.s. bombing of Laos and Cambodia; the million people killed by the u.s.a’s illegal invasion of Iraq; the more than 186,000 Palestinians killed by bombs and blockade in the Zionist entity’s genocidal, u.s.-backed assault on Gaza; the more than 250 people killed by u.s. airstrikes on Yemen; the numerous victims of all yet unmentioned wars of amerikkkan aggression or by the u.s.a’s crony neo-colonies; all those killed by the day-to-day violence of the u.s.a. at the hands of the police and the prison system; and all those sentenced to death by the mundane stroke of the pen in the u.s.a, whether it’s through a denied insurance claim for life-saving healthcare, deprivation of housing by parasitic landlords, or otherwise. We affirm once again our commitment to breaking the chains of world imperialism by upholding our duty of overturning the u.s.a.’s rapacious capitalist class.

We call for the DAY OF REBELLION to directly counter celebrations of Independence Day—celebrated annually by the enthusiastic supporters of Yankee imperialism and those duped by the mirage of freedom, liberty, and democracy projected by the ruling class—and to serve as a call to action to all those still blighted by the horrors and injustices of capitalism and imperialism. To the oppressed masses of the world we say: IT IS RIGHT TO REBEL AGAINST THE REACTIONARIES!

We call for July 4th, 2025 to be retaken as a DAY OF REBELLION, and urge our comrades to observe this day by taking to the streets to fight back against the reactionary ruling class which exploits us and holds the world under its yoke, by learning the revolutionary history of the movements around the world which have fought valiantly to overturn capitalism, imperialism and fascism, and by holding high the red banner of socialist revolution for the oppressed of all the world to see.

LONG LIVE THE FIRST OF MAY!

CELEBRATE JULY 4TH AS REBELLION AND RESISTANCE DAY!

NO MORE BORDERS, NO MORE WALLS. NO MORE U.S.A. AT ALL!

IT IS OUR DUTY TO FIGHT FOR OUR FREEDOM! IT IS OUR DUTY TO WIN!
