Men's March Counter Report Back
Once again, Mayor Wu and the Boston Police Department have thrown in their lot with the Men’s March to Abolish Abortion. Several hours before these forced-birth fascists set off from their rally outside the Allston Planned Parenthood Clinic, the police were already setting up metal barricades along their route in anticipation of mass resistance to the march. By noon, BPD had gone all out, mobilizing state and university police to bolster their numbers, while deploying bikes, tactical squads, motorcycles, and dozens of undercover officers to prevent us from standing up to the fascist march.
Outnumbering both the Men’s Marchers and our counterdemonstrators by an order of magnitude, the police intercepted us at every turn and prevented us from blocking the tepid, frocked procession from proceeding. Under banners reading “Tradition, Family, Property,” and accompanied by their BPD honor guard, perhaps a hundred or so reactionaries—many of whom are affiliated with openly white nationalist organizations—managed to complete their march and pray-in with a hundred yard security perimeter.
Beyond the police line, feminists attempted to shout down their speakers with chants of “Working women, give them hell, it is right to rebel!” and “One solution: fight for revolution!” This was apparently enough of a threat that the pigs seized one of our megaphones after trying and failing to force us out of the street.
We know where we stand — no justice for women, no peace in the streets. We’ll keep fighting back, no matter how many cops our ‘progressive’ Mayor Wu throws at us, no matter how many times our ‘progressive’ DAs charges protestors with “promotion of anarchy” for daring to struggle against imperialism and fascism. Our enemies know as well as we do that when we fight, we win; our task now is to organize the fight and build the kind of fighting, working class feminist movement we need so that when these goons come back, they’re faced not just with a few hundred brave resistors but with all the forces of the revolutionary working class at their back.
Our work is just starting. The Men’s March fascists are just the tip of the far-right spear seeking to attack the hard-won rights of women and queer people here in Massachusetts and across the country. We know that the Democrats and their lackeys are more than happy to cooperate, whether that’s by complying in advance (like Fenway Health revoking transition-related care for patients 19 and under), rolling back our legal protections, or deploying the full might of their IDF-trained police forces to suppress dissent.
To defeat the fascist onslaught against women and queer people, we need to build our own organized feminist movement. A movement that isn't afraid to stand up to the fascists with a strategy for revolutionary, militant struggle. A movement that can expose the workings of our enemies across the country and around the world with a clear analysis of patriarchy and a program for its destruction. A movement that struggles uncompromisingly against a capitalist system propping up both the forced-birth fascism and the sell-out reformist politicians claiming to oppose them.
We need your help to do it! Join us, and help build the fighting feminist movement!
